The little girl images were my starting point and I painted them using my wonderful Claudine Hellmuth brushes (that I purchased at the Ranger warehouse sale last fall!) and set them aside. The street scene started with the Green Paper center church piece and then added other buildings from a freebie from Tartx, along with some black details. Attached them to a background and added the sweet postcard from a prize package I won over at Bella Creations. Note the spelling of America (Amerika). Watercolored a flowery water scene over top of everything. The girls, stamp and the goldfinches were applied next. I painted a pretty sky and layered the whole thing. Just a tiny bit of bling with the gold german scrap around the edge. Interesting enough, with the painting, I felt I didn't need to add any rhinestones or other bling.
Hope you like my new combination experiment.
Remember to live free,
Yours truly, gerri

Great job Gerri! It's a beautiful piece. I'm so excited to see more and more paper artists getting into painting. For many years the decorative painting community has been bemoaning the "death" of painting. I think more and more people are discovering how well paper and paint work together.
ReplyDeleteSuper duper as we say in the UK! Yes definitely onto something. Love how the girls pop out of the scene.
ReplyDeleteReally nice, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! This is such an interesting interpretation of the provided images. Reading that sentence back I realize it sounds rather pompous so I'll just say this instead - I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteOh my! Love these! You are quite the water color artist! Bravo
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! I need to head over there. And your blog is looking great too!

ReplyDeleteSimply stunning! You are very, very talented. I would love to be able to paint like this but alas my painting skills are limited to painting the house. Thank you so much for popping by and for your lovely comment on my blog, it is very much appreciated.

Lovely! I adore those painted clouds and flowers ... and the rosy cheeks on girls is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWow, Gerri.. this is amazing. The city itself is stunning but then there are all the additional elements, too. Love it!
ReplyDeleteDelightful piece. Love the composition and what you've done to enhance the pieces. Great combo of painting and pieces. The city background is most interesting --- I want to climb in and have a closer look around.
ReplyDeleteI love you work so very nice
ReplyDeleteThanks,
