Sweet Marie Necklace

Hello Art Friends,
Here is a little piece of jewelry I created using a Marie Antoinette image  and art bits and bobs from Retro Cafe Art. I love using my paper crafting supplies for other things like jewelry or home decor. My first love will always be greeting cards because I love sending my little creations out to share with others, but its fun to come up with other uses.

Hope you have sweet week.
Artfully yours,
Gerri

Full Moon in the Graveyard

How about some Halloween earrings. Its a great way to secretly celebrate even at work. You have to look close to see what they are.  I enjoy using my scrapbooking/paper arts supplies for different uses. These earrings were made using Retro Cafe Art tombstone cutouts and tiny bats. I applied them to silver Stickles round disks. A little red blood paint for accents and I was all done. Cant wait to wear them out!

Hope you have a boo-tiful week.
Take care, Gerri

Be Playful

Today we are being visited by my helper MaryLou, who has modeled most of my jewelry creations over the years. My creation today is a little flower pin that I will definitely be wearing this summer. The center pin is a little painting palette from Retro Cafe Art which is  on a denim painted rose. Of course it is sparkly, so the paint spots are represented by hand colored crystals. The little brush has glitter accents too. The sentiment reads " Be Playful", something I try to be in my art.

Hope you will be playful this week.
Take care,
Gerri

Sweet Tiny Pink Bottlecap Angel

Here's a sweet little bottle cap angel necklace that I created for Retro Café Art. Though I tend to dress conservatively, I don't mind adding a  girlie necklace to the mix!
Hope you will mix it up this week!

Purple Little Mermaid Pin

Continuing with this month's theme, here is another  mermaid project for Gecko Galz's  July2014,  design team. It's a little mermaid pin using the Gecko Galz Mermaid Jewel sheet. If you check out their site , you will see there is so much to see, share and do.

To make this I started with a pin blank that I put the mermaid image from the Little Mermaid Jewel inside.  It was just the right size! It was covered with glossy accents, Sea shells, pearl beads and purple Stickles  which were glued on the side. A pearl and some gold shell charms dangle from the bottom. Touches of purple stickles around the edge completed this sea side pin.

Hope you will see the sea this week.
Take care, Gerri

Black and White and Christmas all over

For the Gecko Galz 's  Design team this month, here are two  different projects both from the Black and White beauties collage sheet. I just couldn't leave them black and white so, I painted and glittered them up for Christmas. Today I am sharing a greeting card and also a little shrine necklace.

The card started with the lovely image that I embellished. It was layered on pattern paper and edged with German scrap. I added the glittered holly, "25" and the word beautiful.

The shrine necklace uses several Retro Cafe Art supplies including the shrine, doves, snowflake and pretty metal rose. All were painted and layered. The Black and White beauty is inside the shrine.

Hope you have a glittery week.
Take care, Gerri

A Halloween Extravaganza

Happy Halloween my friends! It's my favorite holiday cause you know it's when I met my husband, at a Halloween costume party in NYC, oh back in the day. Of course, there is a Halloween decorated side board in our entry way to celebrate every year and I am sharing  it with you too.

I decided to show three  projects all using Retro Cafe Art supplies today. Kristin has been so kind to post several of them on her RCA Facebook page too. Today there's an spider web ATC with swinging spider, creepy bee woman with real(only kidding) spider webs. A  paper skellie shrine with cutout bats and a spider charm looking all scary in a  tiny tartlet pan . Finally,  my favorite modeled by Mary Lou is a  Halloween feather pin complete with green jewel, skull beads, metal roses, lots of black lace  and a cutout flourish swirl.

Hope you enjoyed my  sweet and scary selection today.
Happy Halloween,
Gerri

Colorful Free Spirit

Today for Retro Cafe Art I am showing you a bracelet . MaryLou is away,l  so sorry she isn't in the photo.... plus she doesn't have any arms. LOL. I adore making Jewelry  its fun, easy and helps my pocket book too! It also is such a conversation starter. I'm sure you have been asked about your jewelry from time to time and to be complimented on something you made is such a great feeling.

Well to make this piece I started with  Mini fairy bloom floral cut outs and painted them each with two colors.Stamping came next. I stacked and glued them together adding some Stickles and Rhinestones for shine, I glued them to a piece of braid and attached a claso. and that was that.

Hope you will get  something sparkley this week.
artfully yours, gerri

To Love in Spirt

Today, Mary Lou is looking divine modeling a necklace I created using Retro Cafe Art supplies. I seem to be in a jewelry making mood lately. It must be based on the fact that I finally found and unpacked all my jewelry supplies. I still have more art boxes to look thru so who knows what I'll be making next.

To make this, I started by copper painting and adding glitter to the shadow box shrine  kit necklace. It was edged with black Dresden scrap. The interior background is from the Fairy Doors collage  sheet by Debrina Pratt and I added gold Stickles rays and rhinestones. The heart and cross cutouts were covered in Stickles too. After putting on the plastic cover I added a gold outline and the  hand cut text says to love in spirt . I put the shrine on a back cord and photoessays it on Mary Lou .

Hope you will have a week of love.
Take  care,
Gerri

Happy Little Homes

Thought I could use some new jewelry this week so I just decided to make some!
Found my jewelry supplies while unpacking so, for Retro Cafe Art I created this necklace. And yes I am still opening craft boxes! LOL.

To make these little house cut out charms I painted them with some luminescent paint , it gives you a nice sheen. I used some rub ons of flowers and swirls to each side to  add another layer. The collage sheet Domino Collage Sheet cv 34 , was where I got those little sweet faces to put iny happy houses. I did cover them with some dimensional glaze. The final step was over stamping with my favorite French words stamp. Using jump rings I added little glass beads and attached them to my necklace. The black sheer bow was the finishing touch.

Hope you will be in a happy home this week.
Take care,
Gerri

Darling MaryLou Flies By

Mary Lou has really missed everyone so, I decided to make a necklace and have her model it for us!
I really haven't been creating too much, because my sweet daughter was visiting for the past week or so. It was fun to have here her with us. We spent time laughing, thrift shopping, cooking and eating. She flew done with her roommate so it definitely was a girls week. Poor hubbie! LOL.

Well, today's  Retro Cafe Art necklace was inspired by spring that is all about us here in the south. It was the Retro Cafe Art Egg Cutout that was my starting piece. I painted it all speckly like an egg in cream and brown and added Gold Stickles. Cream colored Lace was added to the back and a tiny pearl drop was added to the bottom. I glued on a French Laundry bird cameo and put the pendant on a pearly necklace.

Hope you will get a dose of Spring this week.

An Charming Unruly Paris Visit

Oh Paris the city of Lights, Love, Fashion and Art,  I do adore thee. Everything about Paris interests me and though I can't live there I can always dream about it . It is such an inspiration place for me so, when Unruly Paper Arts decided to do a Paris Issue theme,  Oh La La.... I was thrilled. Instead of doing a paper project today  I decided to up cycle an old bracelet I had using existing crafting supplies I had on hand  to make it special. You can follow me thru the the steps below:

This is the bracelet before,  it is cute but I did feel it was missing something. The first thing I did was,  to stamp on the metal discs  a filigree pattern with  black Archival ink. I didn't care that the stamped print  image was off center , it made for a more vintage distressed impression.

These are the  tiny charm bits I added they are the perfect Paris monuments from Retro Cafe Art. You can see the Eiffel Tower, Arc d'Triomphe, a Fleur de Lis and of course, a heart for "amour". The little  vintage paper images are also from Retro Cafe Art, that  I cut out to back some of the existing charms

These are the little wooden charms painted and then over stamped. I also ink kiss the edges for additional depth. I attached silver jump rings too before adding to the bracelet. The next step was to glue the people vintage images on the back of some of the existing charms.

Viola, the finished bracelet. I think it is tres manifique.

Here are some  more detailed photos.  Hope you enjoyed my little up cycled bracelet today .
Here's  to dreaming about my favorite city....Paris.

Yours truly,
Gerri
