Queen of Hearts and her Fairy Princess daughter

Crowns are the theme for Gingersnap Creations  challenge GC#91 , so here is  a large crown  card template that I designed. My first use for the template is a card called  "Queen of Hearts" . Got out my stamps and tried something different and stamped some wooden hearts ;  I do like the effect.  Then I added some German scrap, rhinestones and a metal lock and key to complete the crown. The metal  lock and key are colored to fulfill the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge CCC#33 over at L3 Studio. The technique is called  Altered Metal  Alchol Inks and  check out  page 56 of Tim Holtz's book to see how.
Using the crown template again, the second card is a woodland fairy princess with  a vintage image, a painted skeleton leaf , some tiny rhinestones and German scrap. I had fun using lots of different stamps, for the butterflies, the daisies and the ferns . The inspiration was some tiny daffodils just starting to pop up, outside our home. Oh this must  be the beginning of spring fever.

He that I love is true

The Compendium of Curiosities Challenge CCC#32 over at  Linda's Studio L3 blog has been a great way to learn a new technique every week. This week was Inking and Stamping Masks from page 59 in Tim Holtz's book. My creation has a Paris theme with a vintage couple image,(oh course ), lace and  lots of bling. This weeks bling includes big gems, tiny rhinestones and lots of glitter. The layered inked background also has a glitter encrusted  stamped Eiffel Tower.

Comfy Cozy

Tried a new challenge this week over at Moxie Fab World. Its a different kind of challenge where you use a photo to trigger your inspiration, it's called Tuesday Trigger -Comfy Cozy. This week's photo is below and it is a lovely comfy image from Pottery Barn in the colors of white, mid blue and red. My card creation uses those colors but I also noticed the red stitching on the pillows. I put stitching on my little King and Queen birds so now they look embroidered like an applique. There is also a King and Queen Challenge at Gingersnap Creations GC#89. Look closely and you can see the difference between the King and Queen by her long beautiful eyelashes. More later....Artfully yours, Gerri

Sweetheart ATCs

Here are a set of Artist Trading cards that I made for an Artchix Studio swap. I used an old deck of playing cards and stamped, added images and threw on some bling (sequins, heart rhinestones, German scrap and netting.) The red netting was from an onion bag, imagine that! LOL. Till next time....Artfully yours, Gerri

Happy Valentines Day

Well, Valentines Day is finally here. I made over 30 valentines this year and this is just a small selection.Worked on some of the components at a Valentine's Day card making party with an art group I belong to. I also included a picture of my dining room table all set up with pretty pink Depression glassware and a darling cupid. Wishing everyone hugs and kisses on this special day,
Gerri

Think sometimes of me

Still feeling "heARTY" with Valentine's day coming up so here is a piece for lovely Linda's Compendium of Curiosity Challenge (CCC#31!) called Rusted Enamel. Added a vintage image, some hearts and a jeweled flower. You can see the frame and buckle look like rusted enamel. Think I got the hang of this new technique and will definitely use it again. You'll have to take a peek at Tim Holtz's book page #41 to see how to do it. Ta Ta....

Mixed Bag of Nuts

Joined a new internet art group called Bella Creations and  I am having  a wonderful time submitting artwork to their numerous February challenges. They have many cool groups like one for tags and book marks , one for swaps , one for cards....you get the idea.  My creations for these challenges are a mixed bag of nuts with different themes, colors combinations and objects. Thought I'd share them with you.

The first is a called "February Bella Muse" where we were supplied with a vintage image of a sweet young girl. The image called out for sugar and spice and everything nice with sweet pink and  an eyelet edge. Tried something new by lacing poka dot ribbon through the paper eyelet. I do like the effect.

The second is "February Tres Chic"  where we had to use the colors creme, pink, and turquoise and add flowers of some kind, ribbon or lace, and a pearl here and there. This is one of my favorite color combination which  I used  for my last "BIG" birthday. I also tried a new glue stamp pad and sprinkled it with turquoise glitter. It worked like a dream.

The last was to create a bookmark for the Bella Creation "Oh La La Group" using this rabbit image with a themes around Valentines Day or the Chinese New Year's colors of red and yellow. I put all these things together and added the love of books. Made two different bookmarks and I've shown you both sides. After I made these noticed that Gingersnaps creation had a Charm challenge running  (GS#90) and now I can use these charmed bookmarks for that too. Well that's my progress this week. Artfully yours....

Love Come in Many Forms

Today's post has several  love-ly Valentines cards in different styles and colors combinations. (Did you know that there isn't any color that I dislike?!LOL) They are still my style, but I tried a few new techniques and embellishments. I also photographed them instead of scanning, not sure if I like it better that way , but we'll see.

The first is for lovely Linda at Studio L3 for the Compendium of Curiosities Challenge week #30 Altered metal with paint. Pennants are so popular right now so I made this graphic "I LUV U " pennants with metal hearts and put it on a circus tent pink and white stripe ground. The second is for Gingersnaps Creation GC#87 Tea bag template. Tried some unusual colors this time with blue, maroon, olive and brown. Just love the teacup clip art. The final piece is sweet and feminine with a classic women's face. I made it very dimensional  and layered  it with pretty  ink kissed  flowers, lots of pretty ribbon and a stamped vintage background in  red. This card was for Reasonable Ribbon challenge RRR#17 Pink-red-white, Flourishes challenge FTTC103 Valentines and Shabby Tea Room  week 47 Get Creative with stamping and no patterned papers.

Hope you enjoyed my new experiments and creations....Artfully, yours Gerri
