Orange you glad for butterflies

Today I am showing you a piece in a color I usually use in the fall, but it was the color for the Summer of color blog, the color is orange. My husband was draw to this piece and remarked how he liked this color. Who knew? LOL.  Over at lovely Linda's Studio L3 ,where she hosts Grungy Monday the inspiration this week is Tim Holtz's 12 Days of Christmas 2009 day 8. Check out their sites to  learn wonderful techniques and see amazing creations.

To make this tag I distressed the tag with distress inks, I didn't follow the example to well but I liked the result. I layered an orange organza ribbon edged with chenille yarn and a metal clothing clasp that I repurposed. On top of this is  some gold fiber ribbon and a stamped scroll made with vellum paper. The next layers are punched pieces, Victorian scrap and 3d clay butterflies. The sentiment is a dictionary page "laugh" and the words giddy butterflies.

Hope you will get to be giddy this week.
take care, gerri

  1. Wonderful Gerri - orange is not normally a colour I use a lot but these "shades" of orange are lovely and give a real vintage feel - love the butterflies!

  8. A colour I would shy away from but in your hands Gerri a colour with elegance. Giddy certainly sums up the butterflies. An adorable piece of art.
I have been working with clay myself today using an art mould of the Eiffel Tower. This is for a 21st birthday card for a guy.

  10. Gerri, you amaze me ... project after project of fabulous art ... it reminds me of a joke my Dad always made about my Granny.

She was an amazing knitter and as kids, she always made our sweaters. She never used a pattern and created works of art that were beyond amazing! She would say, "I just made it out of my head!" My Dad would always quip, "Yes, and she has enough left over in there to make another one!"

    Thanks for sharing!

  17. OOoooo Gerri. This made my heart go pitty pat. The metal ribbon certainly adds some pizazz to the piece, but then all the other pieces are so absolutely perfect. The whole thing is amazing! Have a great day. hugs, Donna
