Geisha Rising

Today for Retro Cafe Art here's  a piece that's alittle bit different.... Its a shrine in a box using a Geisha theme. Of course, there's plenty of color and glitter too.

To make this I started with  the Retro Cafe Art collage sheet called Geisha Rising and cut out the beautiful Geisha  images. I took a little box and covered it with patterned paper napkins. I used some grunge board scrolls and painted them gold for the cover. All the geisha images were touched with water color paint and gold Stickles. The embellishments included asian coins, gold scroll stickers, 3d lanterns, a paper kimono and mahjong tiny pieces. The hand cut  poetry script says "The floating clouds their state shall lend to her, for her the willow bend."

Hope you'll try something different this week.

A wink and a Smile

Here's another card for Gecko Galz this weekend. I'm in a sparkly mood and I really don't know why? You can never have too much glitter is what I say! I'm trying  to get back to regularly posting but it's hard with a full time job. I don't know how many of my dear blogger friends do it! I give you a lot of credit.

To make this card I glued the cute flapper image from the June Flapper collage sheet on a piece of sheer organza and layered her on an embossed paper. The embossed paper is watercolored  and glittered too. All was layered on lime and pink glitter paper. The finishing touches include pastel rhinestone circles, dots and a water colored sentiment. The sentiment reads"A wink and a smile then, my heart was captured."

Hope something wonderful will capture your heart this week.
Take care, gerri

Sweetie 14

Here 's a pretty little card today....It reminds me of Valentines Day, I guess cause of the 14, so I might have to save it till then. I'm using an image from the June offering of Gecko Galz. Why not stop over and see what's happening....there's challenges, giveaways and free images too.

I started with a lavender card blank and added silver Stickles accents and pink water color accents. After fussy cutting the pretty flapper image from the June flapper collage sheet, I highlighted her with Stickles and pink watercolors too. The little collage in the corner is made up of painted and stamped tickets,a paper heart and a 3d white glitter heart too. The sentiment reads "Sweetie" and is glittered too.

Hope you will meet a little sweetie this week.

UnRuly Gift Tags

Sometimes I forget  a project and then find the project on my phone, i pad camera or computer. I think I am using too many devices! So today here's some gift tags that I made for  a Readers Art Challenge at UnRuly Paper Arts quite awhile ago. Sorry for not sharing soon....

I really like the Red Black and White color combo. These were easy little tags using some shiny card stock I had and stamping them with a 100 Proof Press Stamp. The Flowers were just layers and layers of paper blowers I had and I used some buttons from my button collection for the centers. Some sheer ribbon and on one a silver Thank you completed these little beauties.

Hope you will find a forgotten project this week.
Take care, gerri

Alas! How light a cause my move

I do so adore the Renaissance time period, especially for it's art but also for it's clothing style. I am particularly fascinated by the men's clothing., they were such peacocks. With tights, jerkins and of course the occasional codpiece, it is so very different from our time. Can you imagine the men in your life dressing this way? Ha! To continue with this theme, today I am showing you a hanging collage using Retro Cafe Art products.

I started by painting with neutral two pieces of chip board then over stamping them with a 100 proof press medallion stamp in black. I tied them together with some ombré red ribbon. The Renaissance couple are fussy cut from the Medieval Magick RCA sheet. I added gold Dresden border scrap border, some jeweled button and gold Stickles accents. A tiny red heart and the hand cut sentiment finished the piece. It reads " Alas, how light a cause may move dissension between hearts that love."

How you will get to visit a different period of time this week.
Artfully yours,
Gerri

To Love in Spirt

Today, Mary Lou is looking divine modeling a necklace I created using Retro Cafe Art supplies. I seem to be in a jewelry making mood lately. It must be based on the fact that I finally found and unpacked all my jewelry supplies. I still have more art boxes to look thru so who knows what I'll be making next.

To make this, I started by copper painting and adding glitter to the shadow box shrine  kit necklace. It was edged with black Dresden scrap. The interior background is from the Fairy Doors collage  sheet by Debrina Pratt and I added gold Stickles rays and rhinestones. The heart and cross cutouts were covered in Stickles too. After putting on the plastic cover I added a gold outline and the  hand cut text says to love in spirt . I put the shrine on a back cord and photoessays it on Mary Lou .

Hope you will have a week of love.
Take  care,
Gerri
