Thankful For Spooks

Yes, it's my favorite day of the year Halloween! Happy Halloween everyone. It's when I met my dear husband, so it's always special to us. It's so different being in the south, not so much fall leaf color, but I do see some pumpkins around. This scary celebration piece was just perfect for the Stampsmith TSC35 Challenge "With Gratitude Challenge". Its creepy to be thankful for spooks, but now you understand why.

To make this little ghoulie, I stamped the Stampsmith Flapper image on a piece of velum. I layered it on patterned paper so the web was under the ghoulies face. It is layered on a black ATC and black glitter frame. Some web die cuts, a tiny spider, Stickle accents and a shiny fiber ribbon came next. The sentiment reads "Thankful for Spooks".

Its Getting Close

Well its's getting close, Halloween that is and also Hurricane Sandy for my friends on the east coast of the United States. I hope if you are in the eye of the storm you are safe. It's a big one and is supposed to last quite awhile and impact will be intense. It did not impact us at all here in South Carolina we have had a string of clear sunny days.

Well to make this Halloween card I used all sorts of  haunting Retro Cafe Art supplies. The Hello Dollie Paper Cut cutie was my starting point and I added the  RCA ouija board, tiny masquerade cut out mask and the shiny silver  witchy hat. The background of RCA poison labels was layered on the Halloween Tree ATC background by Cassandra Van Curen. Two tiny small Gothic windows  were filled with skeleton images. All this was glued to a shiny marblized card. Of course, everything was covered with Silver and Red Stickles accents.

Fluttering Butterfly Pins

Today for Retro Cafe Art, we will have Mary Lou model some little butterfly floral pins I created. There seem to be so many butterflies here in South Carolina in the fall, I just love watching them.

To make these little beauties I started with some patterned and solid paper flowers  that I just had hanging around. I tried to layer coordinating  colors for interest. I sewed in some crocheted colored floral centers for texture all the way through to a pin back. The next part was to paint and use Stickles, they come in such lovely colors, to detail the  tiny cutout butterflies from the butterfly ATC Frame centers. I wrapped some pretty twine around to create the body and the antennae. They were glued to the edge, as if they just stopped by for a sip of nectar.

Hope you like my Sweet Halloween tag using the 100 Proof Press Big Cutie Baby stamp. I used the Faber-Castel yellow color pencil set  for color, which was amazing. I could even color on glossy paper! Let us Run If We Must

Its a Giant tag today using the awesome Gauche Academy kit and my favorite Star burst stamp by 100 Proof Press. I just love the saying about the little things taken on the run and when I saw the little black Retro Cafe Art cut out boots, I knew just what to make.

I started with the shoe image from Gauche Academy and layered it on of their tags.I happened to have colored circles that matched and layered them. I stamped the whole thing with the Sun burst stamp/More layers of black fabric and herringbone paper. The final details were the red tag hanger, Retro Cafe Art boots and the sentiment which reads" Half the joy of life is in the little things taken on the run. Let us run if we must."

Halloween Box of Sweet Horrors

I recently participated in a Halloween Match Box Swap hosted by  Vintage draonfly. She has such amazing swap ideas. I did it last year and had so much scary fun , I decided to do it again. My swap partner has received it, so it's ok to share a few photos of this boo-tiful box with you.

The first step was to create the scary rosette. I started with some black flowers and cut off the rounded petals and dabbed them with blood red paint.I layered a Retro Cafe Art  web cut out with some red rhinestone spiders and a tiny red ouija board. The big match box came next and was painted black and web printed paper filled the sides. I added some red sparkly fiber, the Boo sentiment and put on 4 tarnished silver button feet. Some red Stickles outlined the edges. I layered some black tulle, the black rosette and a pair of skeleton arms.  The inside of the match box was painted, papered and red rhinestone buttons were added as handles. The inside is now a movable stage with an articulated Skeleton from Retro Cafe Art collage sheet. I used red thread to hold it together. On the skeleton are red RCA acrylic ribs and a gold Stickled cut out crown. I filled some tiny bottles with glitter and added some tiny poison labels. A ouija board was added inside for the skeleton to play with.LOL.

Two for One

Today it's two for one, that means two projects from two wonderful suppliers in one post.The two companies are 100 Proof Press which I am a Design Team member and and Gauche Alchemy.The two paired up and mixing  their supplies was a fun challenge for me. I adore 100 proof press rubber stamps and when GaucheAlchemy sent their kit with Real vintage magazine pages, laces, scrap book pages, rhinestones, buttons and brads, I just knew what I would create.

 In the first collage I used the darling ostrich plume stamp from 100 proof press for the vintage beauty's hair. The pink lace, rhinestone, ring with happy image and finally the heart punchella; which I used as a stencil  were all in the kit. The hand cut sentiment came from a Gauche Alchemy vintage advertisement. Some Stickles and watercolor paint were all it needed as the finishing accents.

In the second collage it was the GaucheAlchemy advertisement for "opportunity" had started me. The scrapbook working office images just went with it.The row of books stamp from 100 proof press fit  right into the creation.The hand cut sentiment says "Work with me people to acquire this personal power....knowledge, education, training, facts!". I layered this on some painted paper with staples, Stickles and some pretty twine to complete this.

All I want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas is white glittery snowflakes, well not really! No snow here in the south . LOL. I don't really miss it at all. I do hope to be in our new home by then so, we will be able to get all our Christmas decoration out of the storage boxes. I can't wait to decorate. Speaking of Christmas, Gecko Galz new October Collage sheets are just in time for making your Christmas cards and tags especially the Wintertime Collection which I used below on this snowy tag.

I painted the tag with lots of greens, brown and gold paint ,then added the icy Stickles on the edges for snow. The sliding child from Gecko Galz came next and was layered on some snowflake paper.The hand cut sentiment came next and reads "All I want for Christmas is White Glittery Snowflakes." Wooden snowflakes were painted cream and antiqued before adding some Stickles snow. Touches of watercolor paint and a red Stickles hat on the sledder were the finishing touches.

Owl be seeing you

Owl be seeing you this Halloween especially with lots of scary cute projects from Retro Cafe Art. I just love all their creepy cute bits and bobs. I participated in their Tomb stone swap, cant wait to see what I get! Check out their facebook page too for giveaways and contests.

For today's piece I made a Halloween card.... I started with Halloween stripe paper and added an ATC spider web overlay. I added pointy black German  Dresden Foil scrap on the edges. Some striped accents came next. A Paper cut owl with a cute witch hat cutout add the fun. A fuzzy spider and a Happy Halloween confetti sign were added. Orange and Black Stickles came last for sparkle.

Highly Entertaining Halloween

Today for Gecko Galz , here's a darling little  pumpkin card. It's time to make to start making all my Halloween cards that I will send out to family and friends. I like to do them all in one day so that as the ideas flow and all the supplies are out, it does go quite quickly.

To make this, I used a black card  then  layered  with orange burlap that I fringed edges. On a black  ATC  I stamped  a swirly pattern with glue then sprinkled lime green glitter. The  darlingpumpkin image is from the Gecko Galz Tricks and Treats collage sheet and was added last. Then
the completed ATC was layered on top. Finally, there's orange Stickle accents  of course and 
green shiny brads too.

Joy To A Pink and Blue World

Retro Cafe Art has the sweetest supplies. How about Christmas, but in pink and blue....not your usual combination but definitely a pretty one. When I grew up we had a silver tinsel tree for awhile and this banner reminds of those shiny days.

To make this beauty, I started with the Cassandra VanCuren Christmas Pink ATC  and her Christmas Pink and Blue collage sheet  to find the little images. I placed them in some pastel slide holders that were covered in polka dots. Each of the flags is decorated, some have pink ribbon, some pink acorn buttons and the center one has a blue crochet snowflake. I sprayed the snowflake with blue ink and sprinkled it with silver glitter.  There's pink and blue Stickles accents too. The sentiment reads "Joy" in sparkly pink letters. The final step was to use white jump rings and the tie on my little flags.

Yes, now and then it's good to wish..... especially if it's for my blogiversary giveaway. LOL. Well, the random number generator, namely my husband picked  Kristin  of Retro Cafe Art number from the comments. Congrats to you, Ill be sending out your goodies this week. Enjoy.

Today's card features a stamp from 100 proof press called Large Window. It is layered with a pretty ballerina image called Ballet Dancers from Debrina Pratt. Underneath are gold wavy textural and script patterned paper in tan. The accents include pretty two tone ribbon trim, a tulle with organza flower and a little Wish ticket. Sparkly details include tiny wings and Stickles on the dancers skirt, crown and bodice.
The hand cut sentiment says "Now and then, it's good to wish."
