Someone is Waiting for You

Over at Stampsmith there is a wonderful challenge this month called TSC33 Anything goes...... so, how about a stamped necklace. Mary Lou is modeling my creation today. I love using my paper crafting supplies to make jewelry, then I get to wear my art while sharing it with others too. It's so much fun when people stop and talk to me about it too.

Well, the base of this butterfly necklace is made from  the center of the Retro Cafe Art Butterfly masonite frame. I painted it with creams and browns and edged it with my favorite black Sharpie pen. I stamped it with lovely Ophelia image from the Ophelia and Friends Stampsmith sheet using Ranger archival black ink. The hand cut text came last and says "Someone is waiting for you." I added it to an antiqued chain and can't wait to wear it.

Hope you have someone waiting for you.

If I could only take them all with me

Here's a simple little card using the wonderful images from Gecko Galz. My how the summer days have flown...haven't really had a lot of time to create and visit you. With my daughter home during the summer, we have been out and about. Our time is winding down, then she will be off again to college and I will have a bit more time for creating and for you.

Well, lots of layers of colored paper here today starting with yellow then turq and pink before, I used the lovely Gecko Galz Summer Card Toppers bird and peony image. The lots of pretty embellishments which are pink tulle, shiny pink floral borders, pretty turq bumpy buttons and a golden Asian coin. Of couse there's pink Stickles accents, even in the holes of the button! The hand cut text sentiment reads "If I could only take them all with me."

Hope you can all the days of Summer with you.

A tradition had been passed down

For my RetRo CAfe ARt  design piece today, I am sharing my movable puzzle collage. You may not know it but, I love to do any kind of puzzle or brain teaser. It's the challenge of how things relate or fit together that interests me. It just so happens that I discovered that the Retro Cafe Art shadow box frame , perfectly and I do mean perfectly fits 4 dominoes! The best part about this is that the dominoes have two sides so you can take them out and change the look of your piece all the time. Who says you always need to decide when making art. LOL!

Well, to create this piece I started by painting gold and stamping text on to the frame. Each of the dominoes has vintage images from the RCA Microslide 1 collage sheet. I added some gold Stickles highlights and some hand cut text too. The frame is accented with RCA golden hearts and some black and gold filigree ribbon. The sentiment reads " A tradition had been passed down."

Hope you will solve your own sort of  puzzle this week.

This is why you sing

Back to one of my favorite themes this weekend..... that being mermaids. I used my regular techniques of Distress inks and stamping that I have used before. I am entering in Simon Says Stamp favorite technique challenge. This pretty mermaid is from a Mermaid Garden stamps collection at Gecko Galz. I just adore the images there. They are having a sizzling sale in August. Gecko Galz has also gone cyber and can be found on Etsy, Pinterest, facebook and twitter

I printed out this sea beauty in black and white and painted her with Twinkling H2O  and then watercolor paints. The twinkling paints give a luminous quality to colors, just like a real mermaid. I placed her on my distressed ink with over stamping of seashells. There's some pale green fiber which reminds me of seaweed. Then come two layers of paper that have been water colored too. The shiny accent are the tiny pearls. The hand cut sentiment tells the whole story: Because you can't hold in your joy, this is why you sing.

Hope you too will sing out with joy this week.

Of course she will

For Retro Cafe Art, today I'm posting a little ATC inspired by my daughter. She's still with us for a few weeks and we've been having a grand time together. Laughing, cooking, making things, going to the beach and watching movies are some of the ways we are spending our time together. We've started planning for her trip back to college and deciding what she needs to pack too. Don't know if we will ever be able to fit it all in the car, but we'll try. LOL....

So, to make this ATC, I started with a heart ATC frame and painted it pink and brown. The image inside the heart is of a darling girl  from  a collage sheet named RCA Deprina Pratt #122. I added some watercolor paint and some glittery Stickles for accents. The piece is edged with Yellow and White Bakers twine and a matching  yellow covered button with a heart is in the corner. The hand cut sentiment reads "Of course she will, all children do at a certain age."

Hope you  "Will" no matter what your age.

A Big Wish to travel

We have some exciting news at our household. Of all the artists on Etsy, my husband was choosen to have a video made about him and his junker car art. They even had original music composed for it. It took two days of taping to create a 4 minute piece. I just love it, but my husband won't really look at it yet. LOL. I am including the video in todays post, please watch it and feel free to pass it on. In his honor I am presenting this vintage rust colored travel collage piece using Gecko Galz images.

To make this postcard collage, This Postcard is covered with linen, painted and stamped with a map. The suitcase image is from the Great Adventures Paper Pack, The young girl is from Monday Child collage sheet. The Letters  for "Big Wish" are punched from the Great Adventures Paper Pack. The accents include a tag with a leather tie, some printed diecuts and dotted paint details.

Hope you will get to travel this week whether on your computer or in your car.

There is love in my heart

For Retro Cafe ARt today, I had fun with some thing new, but to me it's some thing old. Its called honeycomb paper.  I remember these papers from when I was a kid, there were Easter egg decorations , Christmas balls or stars and even big white wedding bells. I always loved when my mother decorated with it and we got to open the package. Its just paper but it was always a treat to see.

So to make this tag, I started with painting the background red and black acrylic then added the red glitter squares. I used images from the RCA's Valentines day collage sheet by Debrina Pratt. Next came the accents with red glass heart brads,  RCA red and white Washi heart tape and the Retro Cafe Art black honeycomb paper  cut into the shape of a heart. The finishing touches were some white paint touches, Christmas Red Stickles and a snappy red and white striped ribbon.

Hope you will remember a fond childhood memory this week.

Sea Side Bliss

Been to going to the beach, since it's so hot here...high 90s everyday. I love looking for shells and always come home with a few. Here's one that that I found....a pretty clam shell,  but guess what? It's actually a  collage when you twist the top shell. The images today are from Gecko Galz  on the Seaside Beauties collage sheet . The big clam is from their Mermaid Garden Stamps.

The piece is about 4" square and I started by cutting out the clam and painting it and adding Stickles and gold dots. Sorry about the photography, I just couldn't capture the shine! On the inside of the shell, it too was painted and then the all the different images were layered. There's a Sea Side beauty on some pale yellow Stickles sand. Some gold sticker shells and a coral seahorse are there too. A ticket to "Bliss" and the words " Sea side" were painted then added to the mix. A glitter topped brad holds the entire piece together.

Hope you will find some "bliss" this week.
