On the Road to Love

This month  at Gingersnap Creations it's all about "Steampunk Style" and for this weeks theme its "On the road". I love the mix of Victorian, gears, steam powered vehicles and of course, I put a girlie spin on it! LOL. Take a road trip and visit  Gingersnap Creations to see the amazing DT pieces or join in the adventure and enter one of yours!

We have been traveling abit lately, so the on the road theme was perfect for this large collage. The inspiration was  the fantastic Steampunk woman with a top hat  image from Dezinaworld. The amazing Dezinaworld is the sponsor for this month's theme.  They have fantastic images for every taste,  price point and even some freebies! Well, I layered the image on a gauge with netting and then on to a big magnifying glass with an ivory handle. That was put on a gold doily on to red rose paper with musical black notes. The lovely lady was accented with a pair of glasses, some red winged german scrap, red ribbon, rhinestones and some old earring findings to add that metal touch! The sentiment is from Artchixs with a Dynamo black label . It reads "Ev'ry kiss is a song on the road to love."

Hope you get to travel on the road to love.
artfully yours, gerri

She fixed her gaze and laughed

Well, today is my first time to post as an official Retro Cafe Art Design Team member. Yippee! I just adore all their products, there is something cool for all us creative types. They also have amazing contests where you can win goodies! So please go check them out.

The "Lucy" fairy collage sheet from Retro Cafe Art was my inspiration. She reminded me of the woods, so I added the Lime and Dk Pink Mini paper roses and the vintage brown German cotton spun fairy mushrooms also from Retro Cafe Art. Did you know I had a scrap book as a little child that I put pictures of mushrooms from books and magazines? Oh to have that book today. I used the inside of their ATC frame and painted it with brown crackle paint as the base for the piece. I added a cream skeleton leaf and sprinkled everything with Ranger Stickles. There's some tiny rhinestones and a sequin crown too. The sentiment is water colored to match and says "She fixed her gaze and laughed."  and I wonder why she laughed?

Hope you will fix your gaze and laugh this week.

Secret Wishes Granted

Today for my 100 proof press design team project, here's a  lovely little heart shaped box using the stamp called heart locket chain (5612-UC). It reminds me of my daughter's 16th birthday when  everyone gave her a silver engraved heart charm. I then took all the diferent heart charms... some serious, some cute, some silly.... and made a bracelet for her to remember her special day. That charm braclet was also on her thank you cards, so everyone could see the completed  pretty braclet.

To make today's project, I printed the locket on white tissue paper then glued it to the white box. I also glued a black lace paper napkin on to the top. I edged it with scalloped gold german scrap. It is topped with a black and cream seam tape rosette,  gold appliques and two puffy styrofoam hearts with a heart charm stamped on them. The sentiment is on a gold sign  and says "secret wish".

Hope one of your secret wishes is granted this week.
always, gerri

You beloved, are precious

Here's a little collage couple I made for Bella Creations, a wonderful  art group I belong to. I love their challenges. The couple was the image that was given to us to use. I printed them out and added watercolor to highlight just the bride's bouquet and the groom's boutonniere. The background is from Retro Cafe Art called Daguerreotypes 1. I added  the big circular gold metal piece behind them with the word "golden wedding", some sparkly ribbon rosettes and glitter leaves. The base is a golden threaded ribbon with a tiny sign that has a  "precious" definition.

Hope you will spend time with some precious this week.
artfully yours, gerri

The Heart That Loves Is Always Young

I love making birthday cards. It was a relative's birthday  recently, so now that she has received it, I will share it with you. I think as adults we are so quick to dismiss birthdays, yet they are our special day, one we should remember and celebrate. Since this creation is pink, I'm displaying it at Pink Saturday

The technique for the background of this card was done by painting and stamping on shipping labels then separating them. I put them on several layers of coordinating papers. A layer of organza ribbon and pink foil flower border edge this card. Some metal butterflies tied with ribbon and the sentiment "The heart that loves is always young" with rhinestones, detail the completed card.

Love alot this week, so you can stay forever young. LOL.

Lucky Day

Just arrived back from Boston and knew I had announce the winner of my blog candy for my 200th follower tonite. We spent a wonderful two days packing up all my daughter's stuff. LOL. I did get a chance to see one of my favorite artists...the Chihuly Glass Exhibit at the MFA of Boston. We also went to the Fan Pier for some seafood on the harbor and that's where we met this interesting sea fellow. I asked him to pick a number from 1 to 30 and he said # 7. So Tracy Evans- craftaddicts, you won! Please email me your address and I will get your blog candy out to you! Have to go finish unpacking the car, so I will catch up  with everyone's comments tomorrow.

Hope you'll meet an interesting fellow this week. LOL.

These are For You

Gathering a subject for this week's painting class was easy, all I had to do was look out our patio door! Yes, oh course I did go out in my pajamas, but I picked them in a leisurely way not my usual hectic running about. When I completed this painting,  my teacher remarked that I made a break through. I do hope so.... With that in mind, I am submitting it to Paint Party Friday. I have also included a picture of our dining room where this bouquet now resides. There is a close up of the little snail salt and pepper shakers my hubby gave me, because we both adore all things garden related.

Hope you will get a chance to enjoy some colorful flowers this week.
sincerely , gerri
