Game of Forever Love

This week, we are continuing with the Shopping focus at Gingersnap Creations, the challenge is to use "Packaging materials". Come visit and check out all the fashionable creations of my fellow Ginger Designers. You know I like to try new things in creating, even if I just try it once. LOL. Well, one of my dear artist friends told me about  a collage technique by ironing layers of plastic bags, between white paper, so it wont gunk up your iron. I tried it and made this background of plastic bag snippets from  various stores my daughter frequents...Forever 21, H&M and Love Culture  My husband looked at this and said it reminded him of a game board so I'm calling it Game of Forever Love .

I happened to have a framed box from some product and it just fit the plastic collage  perfectly. I then stamped the three heart images by Inkadinkado on transparencies and layered then over white plastic flowers. For the border there are dominoes, poker chips painted yellow with my favorite tool "sharpie markers." a turquoise flower, white flower and big fat red jeweled heart. Sprinkle with rhinestones and it was time to start playing the game of love.

A Little Bit of Mermaid Love By The Sea

I have a sweet memory of building a mermaid out of sand, seaweed and sea shells with my mother down the shore. My mom was very creative and our  3d sand sculptute had long flowing green kelp hair, shell covered breasts and a up turned tail. I will never forget it....With that in mind here are some ATC's  that I made for a mermaid swap at Artchix Studio. Also the lovely Linda at Studio L3, who hosts Grungy Monday has a challenge "Distress ink O Rama". Did you know that Distress inks were created by my favorite artist....the amazing Tim Holtz. Come jump in  and join the fun.

I started with rubbing Ranger Distress inks on my paper, then I over stamped Sea Shells from Cavallini and a Random script  stamp in black. Using Artchix swimmer images I created my own mermaid tails. There are also other elements including die cut paper shells/sea horses/sand dollars, german scrap and word snippets. Of course, there is some netting too, every mermaids fear! All the cards are detailed with ink, watercolor paints, shiny markers, rhinestones or pearls and Ranger Stickles for that sea glitter and shine.

The Perfection of a Peacock's Feather

Just back after a weekend away, so I have alot of catching up to do with all my blogger friends, but first I wanted to share a quick little card. You might know that I love birds and especially the image of feathers. I think the feathers on a peacock are magnificent; their form, their shimmer and their rich color are truly amazing. With that thought in mind, I made this card using the peacock stamp 3853U  for my 100 Proof Press Design team project.

After stamping the peacock and cutting it out, I colored it with colored pencils and markers, then added tiny rhinestones. This sparkly piece was then added to a  piece of peacock themed patterned card stock. The royal blue german scrap, a fuchsia with gold trimmed ribbon were layered underneath. I added the definition "perfection" that was colored with pencils and  glued on tiny rhinestones.

I've Always Wanted You Here By Me

Well today I want to announce that I had a wonderful win at a random number giveaway. The win was for $100. in art supplies, how cool is that! The company is Retro Cafe Art ; they have all sorts of artsie supplies from ATC frames, to collage sheets to unusual ATC bits like tiny mustaches and tiny eyeglasses. I really like all their stuff and am so glad I found them.

This is the random entered ATC  that I believe had special magic to help me win! LOL. The ATC started with the Retro Art Cafe frame that I painted with Ranger crackle paint and edged with gold. The interior has marbleized paper layered with a door transparency from Artchix Studio. The vintage couple has been painted then detailed and is from Artchix too. The golden paper frame and rosettes are cut up doilies that I colored with markers. I added the sentiment" I've always wanted you here by me." and tiny rhinestones.

Key to the Queens Heart

For Pink Saturday today, I've created something different....it's a jewelry set that's fit for a Queen. The set has three pieces: a necklace,  a rosette pin and big chunky ring. I had fun playing with my Ranger UTEE (ultra thick embossing enamel) and my melting pot. I don't use it as much as I really should cause it makes a bit of a mess.....

Instead of putting just a paper image in the bottom of a pendant shape like I was taught by Suze Weinberg, I also added a chipboard piece. These chipboard pieces shaped like Fleur de Lis are painted a rosy pink and brown then flecked with gold. I poured the melted UTEE into forms and edged them with golden foil tape. For the pin, I sprayed printed crepe paper  with Glimmer mist to make the outer rosette. For the necklace, I added rich pink ribbon and a gold key to the Queen's heart.

Early Morning Tea Time

Today for Paint Party Friday, I will show two watercolor paintings of the same still life subject. At the studio, there was an old chipped  blue and white enameled teapot begging to be painted. The teapot was filled with coleus leaves and some pretty pale silvery green leaves . Of course, the infamous mint colored tea tin was available to use too! LOL. I did these at two different times and they have a very delicate feel to them.

I will be off for a few days, but I have scheduled my Pink Saturday post and for Sunday, I will share with you some wonderful news.  Please check back to see what I have planned to share with you. I will respond to your lovely comments when I return om Monday.

Pout, You Drama Queen

This month's theme at Gingersnap Creations is one of my favorites....it's all about Shopping. I bet shopping is one of your favorite things too. LOL. Well, the emphasis is on using labels, tags and packaging materials in our art. I save interesting tags from clothing and such, they are such a graphic element that  I love reusing them in my art. This first week's challenge GC#105 is "From the Mall". Come visit our group and join in the fun, plus you get to see my fellow Ginger Design team members' fantastic creations.

 It was this red lipped "Pout" hangtag that started my  Design team card this week.The "Pout" tag colors of black, white and red  are another go to color combination for me. Its bold, graphic and photographs so well.  I layered the tag, the vintage tiny fashion images 1941D, from  our sponsor this month Altered Pages, on to a red lace paper background. On top of these, I added Artchix Transparencies that said "got style" and "drama queen" then added the red passion and crazy labels. The flower came next with patterned paper , tulle, a red Poker chip! and a big gem. Some 3d flowers and more gems and the drama queen was off to the mall.
