Pretty Pink Roses

Earlier this week I mentioned I had been to a Garden show on Hilton Head Island and when you see today's piece you can see the influence. I was stunned by one garden that was simply roses, I have never seen so many roses abloom at one time. Drop dead gorgeous. I'm including some photos to share.

My Retro Cafe Art piece has lots of pink roses too. I printed two collage sheets Blue Bird Marie   and the Jolly Marie both by  Cassandra Van Curen   on canvas and was surprised how clear yet subtle it turned out. I layered the two prints and inserted pink lace between them. I also edged the piece in pink lace and attached a  flower button rose and a painted fleur d'isle as accents. Lots of dimension pearl hand drawn touches in pink and blue too.

Hope you will see some thing drop dead gorgeous this week.
take care,
Gerri

Mermaids in Paris

I just had to share with you the incredible shrines I received in the Retro Cafe Art swap today. I love doing swaps, it's the joy of sending my little creations into the world and the surprise and wonder of the pieces I receive in return.

Of course, Kristin knew me so well and sent me two of my favorite themes. I am so predictable. Yes, she sent me mermaids and Black/pink Paris....that's why I did today's post title  Mermaids in Paris!  Ha ha.

The  mermaid shine is by Bonnie Ashurst, and it is simply divine. I love the drink umbrella and how the little shrine looks like a cabana. Such attention to detail, notice the sail matches the shape of the house on the back and the little chair inside! The second one was a black and pink Paris theme because of the fleur d'isle. The talented artist was Virginia Smith. I adore the transparent wings and of course all the rhinestones. You know I believe there can never be too much bling.

Well, I hope you get a pleasant surprise this week.
Artfully yours,
Gerri

Best Wishes

Had a wonderful weekend going to a Garden Tour in the area. All sorts of gardens small and large were included. We are still learning the flowers here in the south, so we can do some gardening around our new house.

This card, that I made awhile ago for a dear blogger friend but never shared  with you it fits my floral mood. The pretty girl image is from  Retro Cafe Art Roses Roses collage sheet . I used a  gold buckle from  my old life in the Fashion industry to frame her. A flower dictionary page, some ribbon, gold German scrap were all layered on a marbleized paper. Some shiny  glittery Stickles accents came next. The "Best Wishes" sticker was the finishing touch!

Hope you saw some pretty posies this weekend.
Take care, gerri

Home is where the HeART is

Today for Retro Cafe Art I am sharing some fun little houses that were sent out for a Retro Cafe Art mini house shrine swap. If you have followed my art you know that I like to  make little things with lots of moveable parts. These houses use a lot  of unusual items too, there's poker chips, monopoly pieces and empty ribbon reels. Do you know they are discontinuing the iron playing piece in monopoly and replacing it with a cat! Many people don't even know what an iron is! LOL.

To make these I started with RCA  little mini houses shrines and covered the with Vintage Hair styling washi  tape. All the edges were painted with metallic paint. Inside there are buttons, monopoly pieces and the word home from the Collage Word Sheet by Cassandra VanCuren collage sheet. The empty  ribbon reels were painted then the part where the ribbon goes I covered it withVintage Hair styling washi tape to create a stand. I also layered a multi painted poker sheet on top of the ribbon reel. Some copper dimensional pearls were used for dotty dimensional accents.

Hope you will be in a happy heART home this week.
take care, gerri
