May your Days be Merry and Bright

I love Bingo cards, no matter  what the theme. Todays card has a Christmas one! When I was a teen I used to go play Bingo at the church with my mom. It was fun, we would talk and laugh and some times we even won!

Here's a little Christmas Card I made using some Gecko Galz collage sheets. The Christmas Bingo card and the little vintage Santa girl image are just so cute. The gold arched frame is from Retro Cafe Art. I added some black and gold tinsel and layered it on an embossed frame. Some black ink and gold Stickles accented the embossed frame. A tiny bit of green and red Stickles were added to. The hand cut sentiment reads "May your Days be MERRY and bright."

Hope your week will be merry and bright.

Mason Jar Christmas

Who decides whats in style in the craft world anyway. I would like to know maybe I should do research on that idea. Right now, I see lots of  mason jars, foxes, mustaches and owls in various forms.  When I saw this Mason Jar stamp..... I knew I wanted to use it to capture a Christmas theme. I created this two sided paper doily tag ornament using it as the center piece.

The  2.5" mason jar  stamp is from 100 Proof Press and is stamped on pretty Cassandra VanCuren pink Christmas collage sheet images from Retro Cafe Art.  I then cut it out the little jar. The jar is layered on various pastel stickers that are glued on a tiny white doily. Some pink tinsel, ribbons, two mini glitter shiny jingle bells, glittery Stickles and Liquid pearls were all used as accents. A big pink ribbon tie and the water colored "Wishing you a Merry Christmas" sentiment was added last to complete this.

Oh and please do stop back next Tuesday, when I will be doing a really special giveaway for Retro Cafe Art.

Hope you will discover a captured world this week.
Take care, Gerri

Pastel Christmas Greetings

Here's  another  Christmas cards using Retro Cafe Art's beautiful images. I like the idea of Christmas being pink and blue, who says it needs to be red and green all the time!  But I do like the sparkle of Christmas....we even had a silver tinsel tree when I was a child. We had a colored light that rotated and changed its color from pink to blue to yellow. Really cool, don't you think?

Well, to make this card, I started with the background polka dot paper that I watercolored and added pale blue Stickles. It was layered on a cream card. The RCA Cassandra Van Curen Christmas Pink tree image came next and has glitter added to it too and was layered with some sparkly pale blue yarn. Some pink pearls on the corners came next and this card was all done.

Hope you will see a sparkly sight this week.

Shiny Silver Ornaments

So, Thanksgiving is over and now it's on to Christmas.... at least for my crafting life that is . I'm starting my Christmas cards and ornaments early this year. We will be moving in a week or so so I have to start because everything will be topsy turvy for a while. I will have a nice space for a studio...no furniture but at least a nice sunny space all to myself. I'm not sharing it as a guest room either! LOL.

Well, these two ornaments today are based on Gecko Galz  images from the November Angels sheet. If you get a chance stop by their Yahoo group or subscribe to their newsletter, there's prizes, contests, friendship and inspiration too.

The first ornament tag uses the Vintage Angel image. I water-colored it and added silver Stickles accents. It is sandwiched in between a chipboard Gothic Arch by Retro Cafe Art painted silver. The entire piece is edged with sparkly silver tinsel. Accents include clear rhinestones and a shiny ribbon hanger. The hand cut sentiment says "Merry Christmas".

The second piece is a tag using a pretty image from the Vintage Angel sheet. It is under a silver glitter tag cut out. On the bottom is a purple snowflake that I took apart and edged the piece with. The image is accented with Stickles, paint and pearls. Pearls and a shiny silver ribbon are the finishing touches. The hand cut text reads: "Rejoice with heart and soul and voice!"

Hope you will be rejoicing this week.

Cut A Rug

Today for 100 Proof Press let's dance up a storm and cut a rug. I have a very eclectic musical taste and just love to listen to Alternative Rock these days. I especially love to blast it loud when doing housework! To celebrate music, all kinds of music, I created this tag.

To make this dimensional tag, the rug came first. I used two different 100 Proof Press rubber stamps and put them together in an usual way. The  length of fringe was stamped several times and cut for movement. The octagonal design 2  stamp was used to create the rug's design but in three pieces. I water colored the whole thing for continuity. The rug was layered on a music paper tag. I added the pink record player and the sentiment "Let's dance and Cut a Rug". The accents include glittery Stickles, colorful fiber and a beige ribbon tie,

Hope you will cut a rug and dance up a storm this week.
Sincerely, Gerri

Field Guide

It's a beautiful time of year here in Lowcountry, we get  to see a lot of migrating birds. The light is also amazing and surprisingly enough, there is a change of foliage colors too. The purple pink sweet grass is particularly pretty and is my favorite. In honor of the visiting birds, here's a tag for Retro Cafe Art.

The tag was painted in beiges and sprinkled with green and gold glitter. The Elegant architect image is from a RCA Debrina Pratt  ATC collage sheet. I added the pretty owl image from the Retro Cafe Art Debrina Pratt Whimsical Square sheet and added burgundy paint accents. The trims came next with rhinestone painted leaves, fiber trim, green organza ribbon and a gold painted RCA egg blank. The sentiment reads Field Guide 1903.

Hope you will see some wildlife this week.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Over at Retro Cafe Art , they are having two amazing swaps...you know how much I enjoy seeing, sharing and receiving art. The two swaps are ornament tags and Artist Village paper houses. Do check it out you have until Dec 3 to get them to Retro Cafe Art. Kristin is always so sweet, with including free supply goodies too when she sorts out the swap. It's a joy to participate. She is definitely the hostess with the mostest. LOL.

Well, I started with the Layered Chipboard Ornament and painted it a shiny silver color. The darling blue image if the Victorian sweetie is from the Let It Snow by Cassandra Van Curen sheet, of course I touched it with some shiny white paint. It makes the fur look textural. I added some painted rhinestone snow flakes, an organza sheer ribbon and some tinsel trim to the chipboard. The hand cut text was painted and says "Walking In a Winter Wonderland".

Hope you will get to walk in a Wonderland this week.
Take care, Gerri

Thankful for Spooky Gifts

I just wanted to take the time today to showcase some amazing artists that I had the opportunity to swap art with recently. The first group was the tombstone swap held by the wonderful Kristin of Retro Cafe Art. The second was the Halloween matchbox hosted by Joanne of Vintage Dragonfly and was created by the amazing artist Mercedes. Check out Retro Cafe Art and Vintage Dragonfly if you to would like to participate in a future art swaps. I do so enjoy them. I am also including a scary old-new photo of our house to go with the theme.

So directly below are 4 decorated tombstones. Starting in the upper right: Retta Skiff, then Jennifer of Just Jingle, the pretty witch was Susan Guzy and the darling witch bird was from Kristin. It's amazing to see what variety of style we create using the same Retro Cafe Art Base !

Next, is the simply gorgeous Halloween Matchbox by Mercedes Scott at All Things Pretty. You must drop by her blog, you will be wowed. My pictures do not do it justice for this luscious piece. The colors, textures and dimensions were breath taking. My favorite part was the silver skeleton head hidden in the bouquet! There were tons of awesome supplies that were Halloween themed and wrapped. She really went all out and made Halloween Decorations, and a pretty black rose pin too. It was wonderful to receive this since all my Halloween decorations are still in storage! Hopefully we will be moving out of the cottage this month and into our new home. I can't wait.

Hope you will receive wonderful surprises this week.
Artfully yours, Gerri

Visiting Angel Calendar Page

For today's 100 Proof Press Design team post, it's a page out of my new calendar. I will be making or at least trying to finish it for 2013. LOL.  Why I started in December...I don't know! The  sweet blank calendar is available from 100 Proof Press. Its great cause its just the right size not to big and not too little.

To make this I covered the calendar page with some patterned glitter paper in blue. I added the vintage women image and added her wings. The 100 Proof Press wings were stamped on tissue paper, so they are dimensional yet  light and airy. There is a left wing and a right wing . The are glittered and painted too. I added gold glitter die cuts around the pages. The accents are pearls, organza ribbon, gold and blue paint.

Hope your days are not flying by!
Take care, Gerri
